Water Pressure to Be Reduced in Larnaca Due to Shortage

The Regional Self-Government Organization of Larnaca (EOAL) announced a series of measures to rationalize water usage amid the country’s challenging water situation. Starting February 24, water pressure in the pipelines will be reduced.
The decision follows notification from the Water Development Department about a 10% reduction in water supply to regional organizations.
Residents were reminded of the requirement to have a water tank with a capacity of at least 800 liters for each residential or commercial unit.
In apartment buildings, a common tank must be installed on the ground or basement level, equipped with a functioning pump system to supply water to individual tanks on the roof. Each rooftop tank must also hold at least 800 liters. It is emphasized that the entire system must be operational.
The pressure reduction measures will take effect on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Until that date, consumers are advised to install any missing tanks or check the functionality of existing systems so they can be used promptly if needed.
The organization urged residents to actively participate in water conservation, stressing that joint efforts are crucial to preventing more severe restrictions in the future.
