Larnaca demands acceleration of works on Dhekelia Road

Dissatisfaction is growing in Larnaca over the prolonged works on the Larnaca — Dhekelia coastal road.
Business representatives and the Chamber of Commerce are calling on authorities to speed up the reconstruction of the section passing through the Oroklini tourist area. Works here have been ongoing for more than a year beyond the original deadline.
According to entrepreneurs, construction in front of hotels, noise, and inconvenient access have already led to booking cancellations and a decrease in tourist flow.
Initially, the project was scheduled for completion in March 2025, but the deadline has been moved to the end of April 2026. At the same time, as locals note, the current progress of the facility raises doubts that the road will be completed on time.
Businesses warn that if the works are delayed again, the economic damage to the region could be serious, especially against the backdrop of an overall decline in tourist demand.
