Demonstration in Limassol to Protest Attacks on Delivery Workers
A demonstration will take place in Limassol, demanding an end to the increasing attacks on delivery workers. The protest, under the slogan "Unity of Cypriots and Migrant Workers," will be held on Sunday at 16:00 at the "Molos" amphitheater.
"Attacks on migrant delivery workers have become almost a daily occurrence in recent months," stated a joint declaration from several NGOs and community organizations.
The statement also emphasizes that the criminals "are not acting alone." The protest organizers believe that "the government, police, media, and political parties are fostering racist hatred" against migrant workers.
Attacks on delivery workers in Limassol have become routine, with similar incidents happening several times a week. The most recent attack occurred on November 5, with prior incidents on October 29, 25, and 16.
So far this year, there have been 19 attacks on delivery workers, with 16 in Limassol and 3 in Nicosia.
Earlier, Justice Minister Marios Hristodoulides stated that the government is committed to stopping racist attacks on delivery workers.
