The incident occurred around 12:20 p.m. during road checks. The driver refused to undergo a drug test, prompting a search of his vehicle, which uncovered a bag of cannabis.
As officers attempted to make an arrest, the man shoved them and fled on foot. A pursuit ensued, during which police officers fired warning shots into the air.
While fleeing, the suspect discarded several items. These were later identified as packages containing approximately 30 grams of cocaine.
A further search of the vehicle yielded:
- Cannabis (approximately 30g)
- 5 mobile phones
- €4,770 in cash
The man remains in custody and is set to appear before a Nicosia court for a remand hearing.
