Large-scale sewer treatment for cockroaches and rodents starts in Paphos

The Paphos District Local Government Organization has announced the start of a large-scale campaign to combat cockroaches and rodents in the public sewerage system. The work will be carried out between May and July 2026.
According to the organization, the treatment will be performed by an appointed private contractor under the supervision of a responsible Paphos local government officer. Spraying will affect only public manholes in areas under the organization's jurisdiction.
Authorities also appealed to property owners and tenants to simultaneously clean and treat private sewerage systems and connecting manholes. Specialists believe this will significantly increase the effectiveness of pest control and reduce the risk of re-infestation.
The Paphos local government noted that a detailed work schedule will be published every week on the organization's official website and its Facebook page.
The campaign aims to improve sanitary conditions and prevent the spread of pests ahead of the summer season, when high temperatures traditionally increase the activity of cockroaches and rodents.
