The International Cannes Film Festival commences in France

On Tuesday, May 14th, the 77th International Cannes Film Festival kicks off on the French Riviera. The main competition program features 22 films.

This renowned film festival will run from May 14th to May 25th this year. Heading the jury is American director Greta Gerwig, known for films such as "Little Women," "Lady Bird," and "Barbie."

The festival's program will open with the French film “Second Act” by Quentin Dupieux.

Among the 22 contenders for the “Golden Palm” are Kirill Serebrennikov's film about writer and politician Eduard Limonov, “Limonov: A Ballad of Edichka,” Francis Ford Coppola's science fiction film “Megalopolis,” and the latest works by Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, “Acts of Kindness,” and Swedish director of Iranian descent Ali Abbasi's film about Donald Trump's career, “The Apprentice."

The International Cannes Film Festival is an annual event held in the latter half of May in the resort town of Cannes, France, centered at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès on the Promenade de la Croisette.
