Which countries can be visited with a Pink Slip

Pink Slip (Visitor Residence Permit) grants the right to reside in the Republic of Cyprus, but does not provide freedom of movement within the Schengen Area. However, Pink Slip holders can freely visit a number of other countries where mutual recognition or simplified entry procedures apply.

Where you can travel with a Pink Slip

With a Pink Slip, you can enter the following countries without restriction:

  • Bulgaria — visa-free entry for up to 90 days within 6 months;
  • Romania — entry allowed with a Pink Slip and Cyprus ID card, stay up to 90 days;
  • Croatia — entry permitted with a Cyprus residence permit (Pink Slip), up to 90 days;
  • North Cyprus (TRNC) — unlimited visits allowed, crossing the “green line” possible with Pink Slip or ID;

Where you cannot travel with a Pink Slip

The Pink Slip does not grant the right to enter Schengen Area countries. To travel to France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Greece, and other Schengen states, you will need a separate visa issued by the consulate of the respective country.

Important: even though Cyprus is part of the European Union, it is not yet part of the Schengen Agreement (as of 2025), so a Pink Slip is not equivalent to a Schengen residence permit.

Tips before traveling

  • Check the validity of your Pink Slip — the document must be valid for at least 3 months after your return date.
  • Bring copies of your ID card and passport — often required when crossing the “green line” or for air travel.
  • Check the current entry rules for each country: some states may temporarily change visa conditions.
  • If you plan to leave and return to Cyprus, make sure that your visa or Pink Slip is valid at the time of re-entry.
