Customs Clearance Fees for Certain Phone Models at the End of 2025
In Northern Cyprus, phone registration is mandatory if you plan to use a local SIM card for more than three months. After this period, any device not entered into the IMEI database will be blocked from using the mobile network. The registration process includes paying a fee and submitting a form, with the amount depending on the phone model.
Form Submission Fee
To register an IMEI, you must pay 410 TL — this is the official fee for processing the form and entering the data into the system. Payment is accepted at the BTHK (Bilgi Teknolojileri ve Haberleşme Kurumu) cashier.
Important: paying the fee does not constitute registration itself — it is only the payment for submitting the application. After this, the main customs duty must be paid depending on the phone model.
Phone Registration Prices
As of the end of 2025, the following phone registration rates apply, including the full customs duty:
- iPhone 16 Pro Max 256 GB — $356.4
- iPhone 17 Pro Max 256 GB — $495
Registration costs may vary depending on the dollar exchange rate and phone model. For mid-range devices (Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei), the customs fee ranges from $150 to $280.
The fee can be paid at customs offices. You must have with you:
- the phone owner's passport;
- the phone itself for IMEI verification (enter the command *#06#);
- a SIM card registered in the same name as on the passport;
- a receipt of the paid fee.
