How to get to a doctor if you have a residence permit: a road map

Updated: 4 months ago

Standard insurance for obtaining a residence permit implies treatment only in public hospitals. This is so because the payment is made to the state insurance fund.

You can't choose a private clinic or a private doctor and go to them for treatment.

Therefore, if you need treatment, you can use your state insurance to call an ambulance or go to the nearest public hospital yourself. Insurance covers appointments with the right specialist and tests. You will receive medical care. But the services of a cosmetologist or complex dental procedures (for example, installation of implants) aren't covered by insurance.

You can also take out insurance for a residence permit at a private clinic you like. It will cost about 200-300 liras more. This option must be agreed upon in advance with the selected medical institution.
