Ektam Cyprus May Shut Down Due to Ongoing Strike
The company Ektam Cyprus, which produces non-alcoholic beverages including products of the global brand Pepsi, may cease operations amid ongoing strikes. According to the company, management has decided to close the enterprise.
It is expected that the corresponding notice will be sent to the Ministry of Labor and Social Security through the company’s legal representative today.
An Ektam representative, commenting on the situation, stated that management is surprised by the decision to strike. According to him, up to this point, the company had not received any official complaints related to salaries, vacations, or employee social rights.
“Salaries were paid on time and in full, and all legally prescribed rights were provided. The enterprise has maintained an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect for many years,” noted the company representative.
Ektam also emphasized that currently no collective labor agreement is in force, and no legally required process for a collective labor dispute, which grants the right to strike, has been officially initiated. According to management, the current actions are legally questionable.
The situation around the enterprise unfolds amid an acute labor conflict. Official statements from unions and government authorities are expected in the near future.
