Gonyeli man appears in court over brutal beating of his wife

In Gonyeli, a man identified by the initials C.K. was brought before a court after being detained on charges of serious domestic violence. Police officer Suleyman Gürtac told the court that the incident occurred on December 25, 2025, at around 04:00 at the couple’s residence.
According to police, the suspect brutally beat his wife after she refused to engage in intimate relations with him. The victim filed a complaint on December 26, and the man was detained the same day.
During questioning, C.K. denied beating his wife, claiming that he “did not beat her but only bit her, trying to express love.” Police noted that there had been previous incidents of domestic violence in the family, but no investigation had been launched at the time because the victim refused to give testimony.
The court also recalled that in 2021 cases involving the accused had already been considered, related to fighting, disturbing public order, and inappropriate behavior.
As the investigation in the current case has been completed, the court considered the issue of preventive measures. Judge Şevket Gazi ordered the accused to be released under the following conditions:
- payment of 20,000 Turkish lira in cash,
- one guarantor with an obligation of 800,000 Turkish lira,
- a ban on leaving the country.
