Cyprus advances to the final of Eurovision 2024
The first semi-final of Eurovision 2024 took place in Malmö, Sweden on May 7th. The Republic of Cyprus successfully made it to the final of the song contest.
17-year-old Australian of Cypriot origin, Silia Capsis, with her song "Liar," opened the first semi-final of Eurovision 2024 in Malmö, Sweden.
The representative of the Republic of Cyprus successfully made it to the final of the contest, which will be held on May 11th.
Following the results of the first semi-final, along with Cyprus, 10 other countries advanced to the final - Serbia, Portugal, Slovenia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Finland, Croatia, Ireland, and Luxembourg.
In the first semi-final, Greek pop star Eleni Foureira also performed, singing the song "Fuego," which brought Cyprus second place in the contest in 2018.
A reminder, the first semi-final of Eurovision 2024 took place in Malmö on May 7th. The second will be held on May 9th.
It should be noted that this year, maximum security measures are being implemented in the Eurovision capital due to tensions arising from the Arab-Israeli conflict. Special barriers have been installed at the performance venue, and police patrol the stage.
According to the police, the first semi-final took place without any serious incidents.
