May in Northern Cyprus Begins with Showers and Thunderstorms
According to the TRNC Meteorology Department, on Wednesday, May 1, the region is under the influence of low pressure and warm, humid air. The dust that has been hanging in the atmosphere for over two weeks has finally settled. Today in Northern Cyprus, rain and thunderstorms are expected.
The air temperature remains 2-3 degrees above seasonal climatic norms. In some areas, the thermometer will rise to 32°C. The heaviest rainfall is expected in the vicinity of Güzelyurt, Famagusta, and on the Karpas Peninsula.
The northwest wind will noticeably strengthen; however, no storms are expected in the region today.
Two meteorological warnings are in effect in the region. There is a high probability of forest fires in Northern Cyprus and a moderate level of ultraviolet radiation.
It is advisable not to stay under the sun for more than 20 minutes, especially from 11:00 to 16:00, without taking necessary precautions.

Northern Coast: Kyrenia – 26°C, Lapta – 25°C, Akdeniz - 27°C, Alevkaya - 26°C, Esentepe - 26°C.
Western Coast: Lefke – 27°C, Güzelyurt – 32°C.
Central Part: Nicosia – 31°C, Ercan – 32°C.
Eastern Coast: Famagusta – 27°C, İskele – 32°C.
Karpas: Yenierenköy – 26°C.
