Ambulance crashed into a herd of donkeys in Dipkarpaz
In Northern Cyprus, an ambulance transporting a patient collided with a donkey. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the incident, including the animal.
The traffic accident occurred on Saturday evening around 9:45 p.m. at the 11th kilometer of the main road from Dipkarpaz to Yenierenköy. The 51-year-old ambulance driver was heading towards Yenierenköy to transport a patient who had visited the Dipkarpaz medical center to Famagusta State Hospital. At that moment, donkeys ran onto the road from the left. As a result, the car hit one animal and the herd.
It is noted that no one was injured as a result of the incident. The ambulance sustained minor damage, and the donkey hit by the car fled the scene.
It is mentioned that the population of wild donkeys in Northern Cyprus is estimated to be around 1000. The animals are protected by the government of the Turkish Cypriots and are free to roam in herds in an area of 300 square kilometers (120 square miles).
