Mayor of Gönyeli–Alayköy Municipality, Hüseyin Amcaoğlu, participated in the "Kardeşi Kardeşe Tanıtma" (Introducing Brothers to Brothers) event held in the Turkish city of Aksaray as part of the March 9 World Aksaray Residents Day celebrations.

According to Amcaoğlu, the historical ties between Gönyeli and the Aksaray region run deep. He noted that the settlement's roots trace back to members of the Mehmet Efe family from Aksaray and the Kurt Ali family from Anamur, who migrated to Cyprus and laid the foundation for the community.

During the visit, the Mayor participated in a panel alongside researcher and writer Ahmet Ömerağa, discussing the history of Gönyeli, its links with Aksaray, and their shared historical heritage. These topics were also featured on Aksaray FM radio, where participants spoke during a live broadcast.

During the trip, the delegation held meetings with the Governor of Aksaray Murat Duru, Vice-Rector of Aksaray Üniversitesi Erşan Sever, and the Chairman of the Aksaray Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ahmet Koçaş. Discussions focused on developing cultural and institutional cooperation between Gönyeli and Aksaray.

Additionally, municipal representatives attended a cultural exhibition organized as part of the 50th anniversary of the Aksaray Vocational High School of Commerce.
