World Migratory Bird Day to Be Celebrated in Northern Cyprus
On May 10, Northern Cyprus will host a special event to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day. The gathering will take place from 7:00 to 8:00 AM, right across from the Çanakkale Sports Club.
The event is organized by Always Nature Friends, the Cyprus Wetlands Community, and the Association for Social Coexistence. Together, they aim to raise awareness about the importance of protecting migratory birds and their habitats.
As part of the celebration, nest boxes for titmice will be placed in the Salamis Forest, and water stations will be installed to help support the local bird population. Attendees will also have the chance to observe birds in their natural habitat with guidance from wildlife experts. In addition, bee- and bird-friendly plants will be planted in local gardens to promote biodiversity.
World Migratory Bird Day serves as a global reminder of the need to create bird-friendly urban spaces, expand green areas, educate the public, and promote sustainable living.
An expert in environmental education and conservation will speak about the importance of this international awareness day. Famagusta Mayor Süleyman Uluçay is also expected to attend.
Everyone is welcome to join the event—bring your binoculars and cameras and be part of the celebration!
