Hunger Limit Announced for Northern Cyprus in August
The Cyprus and Turkey Public Servants Union (KTAMS) has announced that the hunger limit for a family of four as of August 31 is 27,402 TL.
According to a study by the union, the necessary expenses for a healthy diet are as follows:
- For an adult man: 245.96 TL per day, 7,378.80 TL per month
- For an adult woman: 235.85 TL per day, 7,075.50 TL per month
- For a child aged 15–19 years: 258 TL per day, 7,767.30 TL per month
- For a child aged 4–6 years: 172.69 TL per day, 5,180.70 TL per month
KTAMS reports that in July, the total daily food expenses for a family of four were 912 TL, with monthly costs amounting to 27,402 TL.
The report was prepared by the Department of Inpatient Health Facilities at the TRNC Ministry of Health, based on the dietary needs of a family of four and the cost of the necessary food items. The price analysis was provided by the TRNC Statistical Institute.
Additionally, the TRNC Statistical Institute previously reported that inflation in August was at 3.28%. Compared to December of the previous year, prices have risen by 42.17%, by 19.19% over the last four months, and by 64.75% over the past year.
