“One seed — hundreds of future trees”: YDÜ students held an eco-action with “seed bombs”

An environmental action titled “One seed — a thousand hopes” took place in Northern Cyprus, organized by the Sustainable Development Club of Near East University (Yakın Doğu Üniversitesi). Participants prepared so-called “seed balls” — a mixture of soil, natural fertilizer, and seeds of various plants — and “sowed” them in nature.
Hiking enthusiasts from Dağdoğan Yürüyüş Akademisi joined the initiative. Together with students and lecturers, they went to the Tepebaşı (Yorgoz Başpınar) area and placed the prepared balls into the soil along the stream bed. The seed mix included, among others, olive, carob (harrup), almond, cherry/sweet cherry, apricot, and other local species.
The event concluded with a small clean-up: participants collected plastic waste encountered along the way, making the action not only symbolic but also practical.
