TRNC Parliament to consider package of bills: focus on schools and security
The General Assembly of the TRNC Parliament will hold a session today with a busy legislative agenda. Key initiatives regarding both infrastructure and the judicial system have been submitted for discussion.
Special attention will be paid to the bill on the procedure for implementing measures for the strengthening and reconstruction of public schools and hospitals in emergency situations, including earthquakes. The document envisages the introduction of temporary rules to speed up the implementation of such projects.
In addition, MPs will consider a number of amendments to current legislation, including changes to the Courts Law, the Criminal Code, and the Criminal Procedure Code. Also on the agenda is a bill on the functioning of the judicial bodies of the security forces.
A separate item will be the discussion of the report of the Ad Hoc and Special Committee on Children's Rights in the Digital World, which underlines the growing attention to the issues of children's safety on the Internet.
The meeting is expected to be an important step in promoting reforms aimed at increasing the resilience of infrastructure and improving the legal system.
