Electricity Prices in Northern Cyprus to Increase from April 1
The Cyprus Turkish Electricity Authority (KIB-TEK) has announced an 11.66% increase in electricity prices, set to take effect on Tuesday, April 1.
According to KIB-TEK’s statement, the updated tariffs will be as follows:
- 0–250 kWh per month – 4.8044 TL per kWh
- 251–500 kWh per month – 9.9115 TL per kWh
- 501–750 kWh per month – 10.6573 TL per kWh
- 751–1000 kWh per month – 11.5519 TL per kWh
- Over 1000 kWh per month – 13.8069 TL per kWh
This marks the first electricity price hike in six months, with the last increase implemented on October 1, 2024. Under KIB-TEK regulations, the authority is required to review and adjust tariffs every two months.
“As you know, our institution’s core expenses—such as infrastructure development, maintenance, and fuel costs—are incurred in foreign currencies. Over the past six months, exchange rates have risen by an average of 12%. Despite this, we have not adjusted tariffs for six months,” the statement read.
The new electricity rates will officially come into effect on April 1, 2025.
