In Famagusta, a campaign poster of Tufan Erhürman was damaged

On the road near the Güvercinlik Junction (Güvercinlik Kavşağı) in the city of Famagusta (Gazimağusa), unknown individuals damaged a campaign poster of the leader of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) and presidential candidate Tufan Erhürman.

The incident occurred during the night of October 12. According to the CTP headquarters, the campaign banner with the slogan “Bizim Sözümüz” (“Our Word”) was deliberately torn, and part of the image and text was removed. The poster was placed in a visible location along the road and, according to eyewitnesses, was damaged with a sharp object.

Erhürman's team discovered the damage in the morning and described the act as vandalism and disrespect towards the democratic process. Party representatives stated that they intend to file an official report with the police, requesting an investigation to identify the perpetrators.

Famagusta police have launched an inquiry. Currently, footage from surveillance cameras installed near the road is being analyzed, and eyewitness statements are being collected.

Erhürman's campaign headquarters condemned the attack and emphasized that such actions aim to create an atmosphere of fear and undermine trust in fair elections. Party representatives called on all political forces to observe mutual respect and prevent violence or provocations during the campaign.

Public organizations and human rights groups also expressed concern over the incident, noting that attacks on campaign materials contradict democratic principles and create a negative precedent before the elections.
