Pedestrian Killed in Kyrenia After Being Struck by a Car
A fatal accident occurred in Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus last night, when a car hit a pedestrian who was crossing the street.
According to the police press office, the incident happened around 9:50 PM on Najdi Talat Street. The 29-year-old driver, Mirac Genç, struck 49-year-old Ögün Aldemir, who was crossing the road at the time.
The pedestrian suffered severe injuries and was rushed to Akçicek Hospital in Kyrenia. Despite the best efforts of doctors, he could not be saved and tragically passed away.
The driver has been arrested, and an investigation into the incident is underway.
This marks the second fatal accident in Northern Cyprus in just one day. Earlier in the day, in Yenierenköy, a young man was killed in a collision between two cars, and three others sustained serious injuries.
