In Lefkoşa, a man has been arrested in a case involving violence, threats, and intentional bodily harm
A.H.A. was brought before the Lefkoşa court after being arrested on charges of threatening violence, intentional damage to property, and causing serious bodily harm.
According to police officer Feride Gürüyroğlu, who testified in court, the incident occurred on February 5, 2026, at around 23:30 at the suspect’s home in Nicosia. According to the police, the man became angry because his partner, M.E. (46), was speaking with an acquaintance and attempted to snatch her mobile phone.
During the argument, the suspect forcefully bent the woman’s left thumb, snatched a Samsung S25 Ultra mobile phone from her hands, and then deliberately threw it to the floor, damaging the device.
In addition, according to police testimony, the man grabbed the woman by the throat, bit her lip causing bodily injuries, and threatened to kill her and her child if she reported the incident to the police.
The complaint was filed on February 6, 2026. The victim underwent a medical examination at Nicosia State Hospital, where a relevant medical report was issued.
The suspect was arrested on February 7, 2026, on the basis of a warrant. Police stated that the investigation is ongoing, with additional statements to be taken and CCTV footage to be examined.
After reviewing the submitted materials, Senior Judge Meltem Dündar ordered that the suspect be remanded in custody for one day in the interests of the investigation.
