Removal of Advertising Signs in the Alagadi Special Nature Reserve
The Municipality of Chatalkoy-Esentepe has started to remove advertising signs in the Alagadi Special Nature Reserve that do not comply with the Special Environmental Protection Plan.
The head of the municipality, Cihan Kırok, reminded that Alagadi was declared a "Special Environmental Protection Zone" by the Council of Ministers on August 25, 1997. In accordance with this decision, advertising announcements and signs in this area were removed.
The mayor of Chatalkoy-Esentepe explained that permissions for signs were issued by the Esentepe Municipality before the municipal merger that took place last year.
According to the Special Environmental Protection Plan, the use of advertising on the Alagadi road is prohibited. Despite this, illegal advertising structures on the roads in the area persist.
Illegal advertising structures were brought to attention in August of last year. Businesses with signs were given the opportunity to dismantle the structures themselves. After the allocated period, the municipality began removing all signs on its own.
