7 Fires and 22 Rescue Incidents in Northern Cyprus Over the Past Week
In the past week, Northern Cyprus has experienced 7 fires and 22 rescue incidents requiring the intervention of emergency services.
According to the weekly report from the Police Headquarters, the total damage caused by the fires has reached 370,000 Turkish lira.
The likely causes of the fires have been identified as electrical short circuits and sheets catching fire after coming into contact with a functioning electric stove.
Four fires were reported in Kyrenia, three in Güzelyurt, two in Nicosia, one in Famagusta, and one each in Geçitkale and Yeşilyurt.
Of the 22 rescue interventions, 15 took place in Nicosia, three in Kyrenia, with the remaining incidents occurring in Famagusta, Güzelyurt, Iskele, and Yeşilyurt.
In addition to extinguishing fires, firefighters also came to the rescue of cats stranded in trees and under car hoods, as well as a dog that had fallen into a manhole.
