More than 10 thousand people registered for the first time to participate in elections in Cyprus
More than 10,000 applications for new voter registration were submitted in Cyprus between January 2 and April 2, 2026. This was reported by the head of the Election Service, Menelaos Vasiliou.
According to him, 10,031 applications for inclusion in the electoral rolls were received during this period. The final electoral register and the exact number of citizens eligible to vote will be approved after April 16.
As of January 2, there were about 561,000 voters on the electoral register, but this figure will be adjusted after excluding deceased persons and adding newly registered citizens.
The updated lists will be published on April 6 for verification and filing of objections within ten days. After all comments are considered, the register will become final and will be used in the 2026 parliamentary elections.
Also, about 6,000 voters submitted applications to vote abroad. It is tentatively planned to open polling stations in Athens, Thessaloniki, London, and Brussels.
Elections to the Parliament of Cyprus will be held on May 24, 2026, and polling stations will be open from 07:00 to 18:00.
