How to protect your car from theft: simple and effective tips

Amid a rise in car thefts, the Cyprus police are reminding drivers of basic safety measures that help reduce the risk of vehicle theft.
Experts advise always locking your car, even if you leave it for just a couple of minutes, and never leaving keys inside — including spare keys. Special attention should be paid to parking: it is preferable to choose well-lit areas or guarded parking lots.
It is equally important not to leave valuables and documents inside the vehicle that could attract criminals’ attention. Owners are also advised to use additional security measures such as alarms, immobilizers, and mechanical steering wheel or pedal locks.
The police emphasize that attentiveness and basic precautions remain the most effective way to protect a car from theft.
