Cyprus Defense Minister Vassilis Palmas confirmed the country's interest in acquiring the Greek-developed «Centaur» anti-drone system. According to him, the issue is being discussed in coordination with Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias.

Cyprus is considering an initial purchase of four systems — either through the EU's SAFE joint defense procurement mechanism or directly from the manufacturer, depending on production timelines.

In addition, Palmas announced that the Cabinet approved an increase in special allowances for contract soldiers (SYOP): payments have been increased from €100 to €150, and from €200 to €250 for special forces personnel.

It is also expected that a new recruitment drive for contract service will be announced in May. The first 250 soldiers to complete ten years of service will be eligible to receive permanent status.
