Cyprus Customs warns: scammers send malicious messages on behalf of the service

The Cyprus Customs Department has issued an official warning about the spread of fake messages sent allegedly on its behalf. According to the agency, fraudsters are sending SMS and emails with notifications about nonexistent parcels, fines, or fees, using the name and logo of Customs as a cover.
As stated in the announcement, the purpose of such messages is to obtain users’ personal information or to illegally withdraw funds. The messages contain links leading to malicious websites that can infect the recipient's device with viruses and gain access to personal data.
Customs emphasizes that it never sends such notifications requesting bank details or other confidential information via SMS or email. All citizens are strongly advised not to open such messages, not to click on any links, and to delete suspicious emails immediately.
Authorities urge the public to remain cautious and to contact the Customs Department directly if there are any doubts regarding the authenticity of the information received.
