Three teenagers detained in Cyprus before Easter due to bonfires and firecrackers
Cyprus police conducted intensified patrols in various areas of the island ahead of Easter, resulting in the detention of three teenagers.
In Larnaca, police officers discovered a group of young people who had lit a fire and were launching firecrackers. When the police appeared, the teenagers tried to flee, but two 19-year-olds were detained. A knife and four cylindrical firecrackers were found on one of them, and three firecrackers on the other.
In Limassol, police also found a group of teenagers in a church courtyard. One of them, a 16-year-old youth, insulted police officers and tried to run away, after which he was detained.
Additionally, in Nicosia, police responded twice to calls regarding gatherings of young people who were lighting bonfires and launching firecrackers. In these cases, firefighters extinguished the fires that had broken out.
Police stated that intensified patrols and checks will continue across the island during the Easter holiday period and urged citizens to follow safety regulations.
