Nikos Christodoulides to Meet with Finnish President in Helsinki
Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides is set to travel to Helsinki on Thursday evening for an official visit and a meeting with Finnish President Alexander Stubb.
According to Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis, the two leaders will first hold a one-on-one meeting, followed by extended talks between the Cypriot and Finnish delegations. The visit will also include a working lunch hosted by the Finnish President.
As part of his itinerary, President Christodoulides will lay a wreath at the grave of Field Marshal Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim — a national hero and a central figure in Finland’s fight for independence from the Soviet Union.
On Friday morning, the Cypriot president will visit the Finnish Parliament, where he will meet with Speaker Jussi Halla-aho and Prime Minister Petteri Orpo.
During the visit, President Christodoulides is expected to address issues of bilateral and EU-wide importance, discuss the geopolitical developments in the Middle East, and outline Cyprus’s priorities for its upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2026.
