Police Warning: Prohibited E-bikes Being Seized from Roads

Cyprus Police warn that vehicles not cleared for use on public roads pose an increased risk of serious and fatal accidents.
According to legislation, any mechanical or electrical vehicle that does not meet established technical requirements is prohibited from use on public roads.
Which E-bikes are allowed:
The ban includes certain models of electric bicycles that exceed allowed parameters.
By law, only e-bikes with the following specifications may be used on roads:
- Maximum speed up to 25 km/h;
- Motor power not exceeding 0.25 kW.
These bicycles do not require registration; however, they are prohibited from motorways and high-speed roads. They may be used on other roads provided specific conditions are met.
Police reported that daily inspections are conducted to identify non-compliant vehicles. When discovered, such vehicles are being seized.
