The Cyprus Fire Service received 31 calls due to heavy rains, most of them in the Polis Chrysochous area

The Cyprus Fire Service reports that due to heavy rains on the island, more than 31 calls have already been registered.
The main cases concerned:
- pumping water out of flooded basements and premises,
- clearing storm drains,
- removing fallen trees.
The Paphos region suffered the most — it received 28 calls, 25 of them from the Polis Chrysochous area (the communities of Polis, Latchi, Prodromi, Argaka and Drouseia).
Teams from the fire stations of the Paphos district are working on site in cooperation with the Polis Chrysochous municipality, and part of the staff was urgently recalled to reinforce the shifts.
In Limassol, 2 calls were recorded for pumping water from basements and one dispatch of the EMAK unit to clear storm drains.
In the districts of Nicosia, Larnaca and Famagusta, no requests for assistance have been received so far.
According to the Fire Service, the intensity of the bad weather is gradually decreasing, but teams continue working until all operations are fully completed.
