The President of Italy will arrive in Cyprus today for the first time
The President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, is arriving in Cyprus today for a two-day official visit. This is his first working trip to the island.
According to the official representative of the government of the Republic of Cyprus, Konstantinos Letimpiotis, the arrival of the Italian leader is very important as it marks his first visit since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Italy and Cyprus.
It is noted that the upcoming trip is timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of Cyprus's accession to the European Union.
During the President of the Italian Republic's visit, he will be accompanied by representatives of the Italian government and a large delegation.
According to the schedule, Sergio Mattarella and his entourage will arrive in the second half of the day. Their first stop will be the Presidential Palace, where the delegation will be welcomed by the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, and the First Lady.
Following this, the presidents will hold a one-on-one meeting, followed by expanded negotiations between the delegations of the two countries. Afterward, the leaders will make a joint statement to the press.
In the second half of the day, the Italian delegation will visit Nicosia City Hall and the old town of the capital along the Green Line. In addition, Sergio Mattarella will meet with representatives of the Italian community in Cyprus.
In the evening, President Nikos Christodoulides and his spouse will host an official dinner in honor of the President of Italy.
