Boat Carrying Syrian Migrants Intercepted Off Cyprus Coast
A boat carrying Syrian migrants was intercepted off the coast of Cyprus, and a 33-year-old man has been taken into custody.
According to the police press office, the vessel was spotted early in the morning near Cape Greco. On board were 21 Syrian nationals. Port and marine police units responded to the scene and detained all those aboard.
After initial processing, the migrants were transferred to the Pournara First Reception Centre for further accommodation and support.
Later that same day, Larnaca police arrested a 33-year-old man on suspicion of organizing the illegal transport of migrants. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
