Automatic Completion of the TOM9 Form for Selling or Buying a Car
To buy or sell a car in Cyprus, you will need:
TOM9 Form
The TOM9 form is essentially a combination of a sales agreement and a package of documents for submission to the Road Transport Department, similar to processes in many other countries.
The form itself is in Greek — you can fill it out using Google, but it is important to avoid mistakes. Alternatively, you can use the website avto.cy, which provides field descriptions and automatic PDF generation for printing or as a reference.
- Important! If you plan to submit the documents without the seller, the signatures on the TOM9 form and the form itself must be notarized by a mukhtar or certified officer.
A sales agreement can also be created, but it is not mandatory.
Vehicle Logbook
To register the car, you will also need the vehicle’s Logbook (equivalent to a Vehicle Title Certificate). The only thing missing compared to what you might be used to is the ownership history. It only shows the last owner and the vehicle's specifications.
Insurance
Car insurance is mandatory and can be obtained from an insurance company of your choice.
Once you have these three documents in hand, it’s best to book an appointment in advance at your local Citizen Service Center (CSC) and submit them at the appropriate counter.
The new Logbook with your name and proof of ownership will be printed and handed to you on the spot, which takes about 15 minutes.
