Documents for marriage

If one of the future spouses is a citizen of a foreign country, the following documents are required. In addition, your status in Northern Cyprus must be legal — a residence permit, work visa, or student visa.

  • Marriage intention application
  • Valid passports and copies
  • Birth certificates from your home country
  • Certificates of no impediment to marriage from your home country
  • If one party is divorced, a divorce certificate is required
  • Proof of residence (can be obtained from the mukhtar)
  • Health certificate (from a state clinic)
  • Documents proving legal stay in the country (residence permit, work or student visa)

All documents must be translated into Turkish and apostilled. Alternatively, an officially certified translation from the Turkish embassy in your country is acceptable.
