TRNC Minimum Wage Commission to Convene on Friday
The Minimum Wage Determination Commission of the TRNC is set to meet on Friday, September 13, with the session scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM.
The meeting will be held at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security’s conference room. During the session, the participants are expected to decide on the third minimum wage adjustment for 2024.
To recall, on August 21, the Free Workers’ Trade Union Federation (Hür-İş) called on both the Minimum Wage Determination Commission and the Ministry of Labor and Social Security to convene for a meeting.
Due to the prolonged lack of response from authorities, unions threatened earlier this week to go on strike if the commission failed to meet within 24 hours. The strike was initially scheduled to start today at 11:00 AM but was called off after the meeting date was confirmed.
