Gemikonağı Reservoir Fills with Water Again After Rains
The Gemikonağı reservoir in the Lefke district, which had long been at risk of drying up, is beginning to fill with water again following the recent rains.
The Lefke Municipality reported that thanks to precipitation and natural sources, the water level in the reservoir has risen significantly.
The increase in water levels has already impacted the surrounding ecosystem. Vegetation has begun to recover in the reservoir area, and habitats for birds and other aquatic animals have expanded.
The municipality noted that the reservoir is of great importance for both agricultural irrigation and the recreation of local residents.
Authorities also urged residents to treat natural resources with care and support measures for sustainable water resource management.
