The teachers' union announced a general strike in schools in Northern Cyprus
On November 11, 2025, the Turkish Cypriot Secondary Education Teachers' Union (KTOEÖS) announced a strike in all schools in Northern Cyprus.
In its written statement, the union cited “violations of the Constitution and laws, threats, attacks and coercion” as the reasons.
The union president, Selma Eylem, stated that participants of the gathering will meet at 11:00 at the union building, after which they will march to the Ministry of Education, and then to the Prime Ministry.
For residents, this means the suspension of educational activities in educational institutions for the duration of the strike. Additional information about the duration and further actions has not yet been announced.
