Oil spill in Nicosia: Traffic restricted, drivers urged to be cautious

Temporary traffic restrictions have been introduced on the Northern Ring Road in northern Nicosia due to an oil spill on the roadway. The incident has created a potential threat to road safety, especially in heavy traffic conditions.
Traffic police officers promptly arrived at the scene and took measures to prevent accidents. Currently, traffic in the problematic section is organized in only one direction, which allows for risk minimization and control of the vehicle flow.
Authorities have appealed to drivers to observe increased precautions: reduce speed, maintain a safe distance, and strictly follow the instructions of police officers working on the spot.
Particular attention is being paid to preventing vehicles from skidding on the contaminated surface, which could lead to serious accidents. Drivers are also asked to choose alternative routes if possible until the spill consequences are fully cleared.
Road cleaning operations are ongoing, and the situation is under the control of the relevant services.
