The first Preventive Mental Health Care Center has opened in Famagusta in Northern Cyprus

The official opening of the Preventive Mental Health Care Center took place in Famagusta. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, Minister of Health Hakan Dinçyürek, members of parliament, healthcare representatives, and city residents.
The Minister of Health stated that the center began operating after relocating to a new building, which made it possible to increase the number of doctors and expand the range of services. According to him, this is the first such center in Cyprus focused not on crisis treatment but on early support and the prevention of psycho-emotional problems.
The center is designed as a safe and welcoming space where residents can seek help in cases of stress, anxiety, or emotional difficulties. Based on the data collected, the authorities plan to open a similar center in Güzelyurt.
Prime Minister Ünal Üstel emphasized that the government is consistently fulfilling its commitments in the healthcare sector by completing long-delayed projects and expanding access to medical services across the country. The opening of new medical units and centers in other localities is also planned in the near future.
