In Famagusta, the Angel-Champions Marathon took place over the weekend

On April 6-7, the second Angel-Champions Marathon took place in Famagusta. Thousands of participants expressed their unity by running for justice in a three-kilometre public race.

The sports event started on Saturday at 4:00 PM and concluded with races at various distances on Sunday, April 7th.

On the first day of the festival, competitions were held in gymnastics, water sports, CrossFit, road, and mountain cycling. Food and drink stands, local products, and items of folk crafts were available for the guests of the sports festival. In the evening, a concert took place featuring Retro Players, Erce Güner, DJ Montana, Diamond, and Cumali Cenk.

On April 7th, at 06:45 AM, the 42-kilometer Cortado Marathon Race started. The races continued with the 10-kilometer Tricon City Race and the 6-kilometer Roots Synergy Race, as well as a performance by the folklore ensemble Othello Folklore Team. The last to start were the children in the Kids Fun Run.

The event was attended by politicians, officials, and mayors. After speeches by the president of the Angel-Champions Association, Ruşen Karakaya, the mayor of Famagusta, Suleyman Uluçay, and the speaker of the TRNC parliament, Zorlu Töre, the public three-kilometer race under the slogan “Run for Justice” was started.

The well-known artist Haluk Levent participated in the mass start. After the race, he performed a concert.

The runners who took the first places in the marathon races received medals. All proceeds from the marathon will be donated to the Angel-Champions Association.
