The signing of the 'Nicosia Declaration' marks a significant milestone in the development of human-centered maritime policy. Relevant organizations stated this, emphasizing the document's importance for improving seafarers' working conditions and modernizing the industry.

According to the statement, the declaration creates a comprehensive framework aimed at improving the quality of education and training for seafarers, as well as increasing women's participation in the maritime industry. The document covers seven key areas, including the development of social dialogue, ensuring occupational safety, and building a skilled workforce.

Participants also welcomed the initiatives of the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Shipping during the country's presidency of the Council of the European Union. It was highlighted that the new approach makes maritime sector workers a top priority, viewing them as the industry's primary resource.
