Cyprus, Greece, and Jordan to discuss regional security at Amman summit
Regional developments in the Persian Gulf and the Middle East will be the key topic of the fifth trilateral summit involving Nikos Christodoulides, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and King Abdullah II, to be held in Amman. The summit continues a series of negotiations following previous leadership meetings and aims to strengthen regional cooperation.
During the visit, the Cypriot President will also hold separate talks with the King of Jordan and the Crown Prince. Focus will be placed on bilateral relations, coordination of actions in the region, and an assessment of the current geopolitical situation.
The leaders of the three countries will discuss progress in cooperation in key areas agreed upon at previous summits, as well as prospects for deepening engagement between the European Union and Jordan. According to sources in Nicosia, the development of these relations takes on particular significance against the backdrop of the unstable situation in the Middle East.
It is emphasized that strengthening EU ties with regional states such as Jordan is seen as an important factor in ensuring stability, reducing tension, and promoting peace initiatives. In this context, Cyprus positions itself as an active mediator and a reliable partner of the European Union.
Cypriot authorities note that participation in such cooperation formats reflects the country's strategic course towards strengthening its role in the Eastern Mediterranean. The meeting in Amman is expected to give new momentum to joint initiatives and strengthen political dialogue between the participants.
