Nikos Christodoulides, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, is traveling to San Francisco for a visit to Silicon Valley. The purpose of the trip is to position Cyprus as a regional hub for technology and innovation.

According to government spokesperson Konstantinos Letimbiotis, during the visit, President Christodoulides will meet with leaders of some of the world’s largest tech and investment companies, including OpenAI, Amazon, Google, Nvidia, Oracle, Tenstorrent, Plug and Play, Andreessen Horowitz, and Fortress Investment Group.

The primary objective of the visit is to strengthen Cyprus's connections with global innovation ecosystems, promote strategic development, and attract investments from high-tech companies looking to expand into the European Union and Eastern Mediterranean markets.

This initiative is part of a broader national strategy to establish Cyprus as a reliable and rapidly growing tech hub for startups, research centers, and specialized IT companies. The strategy taps into the country's competitive advantages and boosts its appeal as a destination for high-tech investments.

"Given its strategic location, offering access to the EU, Middle East, and North Africa markets, Cyprus has the potential to serve as a bridge for cross-border cooperation between three continents," Letimbiotis explained.

The tech sector now accounts for over 14% of the country’s GDP and continues to grow by 15–17% annually. Cyprus is also ranked among Europe's most competitive startup ecosystems, placing eighth in the EU and fifteenth globally for venture capital investment relative to GDP.
