Want to add your FAQ?

Until recently, it was possible to visit Cyprus with national visas from Bulgaria, Romania, and Croatia.

What happened?

In 2024, these countries joined the Schengen Area, and now separate visas for these countries are no longer issued, except for special cases: national, study, or work visas.

Which visa should you get now?

Essentially, nothing has changed — these countries now also issue Schengen visas, like the other Schengen Agreement countries. The requirements have changed slightly — more on that below.

Important note. To enter with a visa from one of these countries, you first need to arrive in the country that issued the visa, and it must be a multiple-entry visa.

Have the document requirements changed?

When obtaining a Schengen visa, you now need to provide fingerprints, and there are some changes in the requirements for financial solvency documents. Otherwise, the set of documents is the same as before.

What other visas can be used to travel to Cyprus?

Besides Schengen visas, the primary one is the Cyprus National Visa. National visas of European Union countries of category D are also suitable. See the full list in our article about visa types for Cyprus.
